Melenaite Tohi started her research career in forensic analytical chemistry, a field defined by precision, evidence, and the careful translation of data into meaningful conclusions. That training never left her. What changed was the question she applied it to: how do we improve health outcomes for Pacific communities in Aotearoa and beyond?
Her PhD in Health Science focused on how young people understand lifelong health, and she specialises in knowledge translation: making complex research findings accessible and actionable for the communities and practitioners who need them most. It is a discipline that requires both scientific rigour and genuine respect for the people the research is meant to serve.
At academyEX, she contributes across both the Master of Technological Futures and the Master of Change and Organisational Resilience, bringing a Pacific health equity lens to questions of technology, change, and what organisations owe the communities they work within.
