When Max Wallace’s original project disappeared overnight, they didn’t retreat. They returned to the work that mattered most. Max Wallace was supposed to be designing workplace culture for a water services organisation that would never exist. Halfway through their Master of Change and Organisational Resilience at academyEX, the New Zealand government threw water reform 'in the can'... and Max's carefully planned research project with it. Faced with the loss of both their project and job, Max had a choice every adult learner knows: pivot or quit. They chose to pivot. Not to safety, but to the work that had been calling them all along.
